Eural’s R&D laboratories have developed new free-cutting, lead-free aluminum alloys 2033, 2077, 6026 to be in compliance with current and future international directives such as RoHS, REACH and ELV. Some of which are about to be modified to include important restrictions regarding lead content in aluminum alloys that is expected to be 0.1% maximum.

6026 Lead Free is said to ensure very good chip forming, has good corrosion resistance, high mechanical properties (Rm ≥ 54 ksi), excellent surface finishing after turning, excellent attitude to anodizing, and it is also good for hot forging purposes. It is also suggested as alternative option to alloys 6061, 6082, 6020, 6262A, alloys 6042, 6262, 6064A which have Pb ≥ 0.1% and is a good replacement for brass and Eco Brass.

2033 Lead Free is said to offer good machinability thanks to very thin chip forming, high mechanical properties (Rm ≥ 54 ksi), excellent surface finishing after turning, better anodizing and weldability attitude compared to alloy 2011. It is suggested as an alternative to alloy 2011 (Pb ≥ 0.2%) and is a good replacement for brass and Eco Brass, the company says.

The company says 2077 Lead Free is the strongest free cutting aluminum alloy ever, has very high mechanical properties (Rm ≥ 70 ksi), high fatigue strength, good forging attitude and excellent machinability on high-speed lathes. It is said it is the first and only hard alloy with superior characteristics to 2024, which guarantees a chip formation comparable to 2011, thus very high productivity, tighter tolerances, better surface roughness and longer tool life. It is also said it is the best alternative to alloys 2017, 2017A, 2014, 2014A, 2024, 7020, 7022, 7075. Due to its high properties and excellent machinability, it is said it can replace certain types of steel and cast iron.
