Inovatools’ TSC Milling Cutters for High Cutting Volumes
The company says the machine kinematics and drives can withstand high speeds and dynamic load changes.

Inovatool’s TSC milling cutters are designed to handle complex and/or deep contours at high feed rates and low cutting forces with its trochoidal speed cutting (TSC). Machinists can use the tooling with a programming system such as SolidCAM iMachining or hyperMill with Maxx Machining.
According to the company, the machine kinematics and drives should be capable of withstanding high speeds and dynamic load changes. The tools are designed to move along their overlapping, elliptically circling paths across the entire length of the cutting edges through the material to be removed with perfect timing. It is said that under high-speed conditions and with reduced vibrations, users can achieve much faster machining times and much less wear than with conventional full-slot milling, especially under critical usage conditions or with materials that are difficult to cut.
TSC is a milling method that is said to combine the ideal cutting speed with continuous, elliptical/circular paths calculated on the basis of the average chip thickness. Compared with conventional full‑slot milling, machining with the smallest possible tools is the most efficient and economical strategy because of the near-constant cutting force, the company says.
Trochoidal machining requires both dynamics and stability because the tool moves with high feed rates within the material and then at the maximum feed rate outside the material. Inovatools offers a range of TSC tool solutions that, depending on the application and for deep cavities, are designed to achieve much shorter machining times than conventional slot milling methods.
The TSC catalog is said to include a range of specialist tool concepts, including TSC solutions optimized in terms of SC, geometry, chip clearance and coating for a variety of materials such as special alloys, hardened steel, tempering steel, Inox, general construction steel, aluminum, composite materials and plastic.
