Mueller Brass, a subsidiary of Mueller Industries, produces wrought brass rod and bars in a variety of standard and lead-free alloys for machining, thread rolling and forging applications. It says it utilizes two state-of-the-art facilities to produce a variety of brass alloys that meet customers’ expectations and are compliant with new lead-free legislation introduced for potable water and PEX applications.
The company designs parts with multiple components forged into one homogeneous part, which is said to reduce total cost. The offers impact extrusion and forging services with forgings made of aluminum, brass and copper.
The process involves creating a part which is formed in a confined die from a cold metal slug that has been lubricated. Using a single stroke of applied force, the metal extrudes around the punch and through an opening in the punch or die. There are three types of impact extrusions — forward impacting, reverse impacting and combination impacting.
The company manufactures hot forgings made of aluminum, brass, bronze and copper. It manufactures cold forgings made of aluminum and copper.
