XL Machine Company’s boat propellers are installed in a range of boats for recreational, commerical and government vessels ranging in size from 30' to 80'. The propellers are made of Nibral, an alloy of nickel, bronze and aluminum. They are machined in a robotic cell consisting of a twin-spindle turning lathe, two five-axis mills and FANUC M-900 robot. Using a robotic cell rather than a horizontal mill is said to enhance the company’s lean-manufacturing model.
