Methods Machine Tools will display Ocean Technologies’ compact, entry-level River 300 EDM drill. It features break-through detection and an HP1+ power supply for reduced wear and shorter burn times with low energy consumption.

The machine uses linear guideways and a 100L DI/Filter. The XYZ-axis travels measure 11.8" × 7.9" × 11.8" (300 × 200 × 300 mm). Its W-axis travel measures 13.8" (350 mm).  Table dimensions are 13.8" × 9.9" (350 x 250 mm). Maximum workpiece height is 11.8" (300 mm) with workpiece weight capacity at 330 lbs (150 kg).

E-Learning software is featured on the machine, enabling new operators to easily run it while seasoned operators can review particular processes on the fly.

  • EDM Enables DIY Form Tools

This manufacturer uses its EDM unit to make and sharpen form tools for its production equipment. Strategically, learning new skills in-house may lead to future commercialization of a value-added process not previously available. It could be a model for other shops.

  • Vertical Vise For Wire EDM

The company’s newly designed vertical vise, Model H4537 for use with its Fixturing System 4000, provides clamping of one or two independent workpieces in the same setup. Two separate clamping jaws are incorporated in the vise that requires tightening the central screw. No supporting spacers or jackscrews are needed as with Toe clamp-type devices.

  • Sinker EDM is Built for General Precision Machining

Makino’s Edge2 sinker EDM is built for general precision machining applications and provides accurate and reliable performance for standard die/mold components or contract manufacturing with a space-saving design for shop floors.
